Sandra Wentzel was brought up in rural Pennsylvania among the foster brothers and in an environment that was full of hardships of working-class background with her twin sister, Susan. The facts of post-war America affected her childhood, but she also had moments of joy, faith, and strength.

The Hen House writing process gave Sandra an opportunity to open the past of her life and to reflect on the family, love, and life lessons that have brought her to what she is today. She narrates her story, so that the readers can know about the importance of resilience and the strength of relationships that can assist us to go through difficulties.
